Is The Nokia N8 Worth Buying?

The long awaited release of Nokia s new N8 is almost upon us. Showcasing the brand’s new Symbian ^3 operating system, the Nokia N8 has a vast array of features that will tempt even the most dedicated Apple iPhone fan.

At the top of the list of features comes HDMI support for videos and a 12 mega pixel camera with a Carl Zeiss optimized lens. Although the HDMI connectivity will be non-standard, it does support Dolby Surround sound so movie playback on a large screen in your sitting room will be better than ever. With the ability to record high definition video comes a software package built into the phone enabling you to edit your home movies on the fly.

A large capacity for music playback has been a feature Nokia have been highlighting a lot in its recent smartphone releases. The Nokia N8 will have an internal memory size of 16 gigabytes, plus the option to fit a micro SD card up to 32 gigabytes, meaning that a total of 50 hours of music playback time is achievable. Along with the expected GPRS and WLAN support comes support for b, g and n WiFi bands, the latter being a particularly fast method of internet connection.

The new Symbian ^3 operating system that is incorporated into the new Nokia N8 is the latest development of the world’s most used mobile phone platform. New additions are an upgraded 2D and 3D graphics hardware support, plus improved support for multi-touch features such as flick scrolling and pinch zoom.

The feature you immediately notice on the Nokia N8 is the huge 3.5 screen. Containing 16.7 million colors and a display resolution of 640 x 360 pixels, it really makes it standout from the plethora of other similar mobile phones. The Nokia N8 will offer touch-screen as already stated, plus also an accelerometer, a compass and a proximity sensor coupled with an ambient light detector.
